325 – Principals of Game Design 71/100
Using UnrealEd, students are required to create an interactive environment for Unreal
Tournament 3¸and must also write a strategy guide explaining the ludic uses of their space.
Students are encouraged to create a level that conforms to one of the existing UT3
gametypes, however students are free to develop any style of game experience, provided it
utilizes interactive elements demonstrated in class.
Students are not required nor expected to create new art assets (such as static
meshes, textures, and sounds) – rather, using techniques illustrated in lab classes,
students will be rewarded for creative use of existing assets (scaling objects, and
swapping materials to create new objects).
As such, students are encouraged to copy and paste architectural and interactive
features from existing Unreal Tournament 3 levels in order to create their own levels.
Issues pertaining to fair use and plagiarism will be discussed at length during the
semester.
Marking criteria will be supplied during your lab class.
Maps are to be submitted as .zip or .rar UT3 Unreal map files via the digital dropbox.
