Tomato concasié (or whatever it’s called)

The famous fantasy fish style

to be continued...

Preparation for the Mexican fiesta in exactly 7 days, I awoke with the recipes for chilling con carne, salsa and sangria in hand. Scraped the bottom of the wheat bix tin ad lapped up a stove top coffee, then swaggered out to the car.

Tastes like sticks

When i purchased this at the end of the wine tasting day, i must have been rushed which is the same feeling left behind after a proper sip.

Whatever i paid it was to much, possibly over $20.00

It has merits though as the initial taste is a clean and refreshing taste. Think i will go back to reds where i belong.

Unimpressive 3 out of 5 bottle.

[Wine] Domaine Chandon – Shiraz 2007 – Heathcote

Domain Chandon shirazSuch a fantastically classic nose, rich full bodied flavours that leaves room for more.

This is a 5 star wine, and it's under $30.00

I will definitely be looking at replenishing the caché with a few more of these. There's still plenty of room in the cellar and Domaine suggest aging until 2017. A sound investment!

Heathcote has some great memories for me, however this has not biased my opinion.

Enjoy in moderation.

Comfortable Quinces

Do you ever get that feeling that everyone wants a piece of you?

Your giving out more than you receive?

Me neither,.. but if i did it's because of this great little desert dish, it's that good!

The produce was home grown, i picked it up from yia yia's place my self along with pumpkin and eggplant.

...to the receipe:

  1. Peel & cut the quinces after a quick rinse into quarters, just try to keep the size the same so they all finish baking together.
  2. Place into a tray, drop a glass or so of Melbourne tap water in.
  3. Squeeze in the lemon, i used a whole one because it was small, a quarter would do.
  4. Scatter cloves & cinammon bark (sticks) around, not to much as you will loose the quince goodness, go by smell; like it? put more!
  5. 20 minutes after putting into the oven which is cruising at 180 C, give them a shake, turn and with a spoon put some of the syrup from the tray over the dry bits, keep them juiced.
  6. Goes well with ice cream & billie holiday ( but thats my preference  ) traditionally you would have as is.
  7. Max the temp on the oven, give them another 30 minutes, but dont hesitate going back and forth to the oven as the clove smell is such a great pay off! Your checking to see if the quince is sweet and soft, nothing less.

A great dish past down the generations to return me back to norm.
